It’s finally Autumn! Hooray! I’ve been waiting so impatiently for Autumn to get here! And I know… It’s not technically Autumn until the 22nd…. but I’ve waited far too long to not just call it now! I felt it only appropriate to greet the season with some new personal goals!
1) Attend Lectures More Often
This might seem like a bit of an obvious and simple one, but I was really bad at attending one lecture in particular last year. I felt really anxious walking in to the lecture if I was a little late, due to a large volume of people in there! I also struggled to focus in the lecture, and sometimes found it quite boring, but I soon realised how important it was when I received my coursework requirements! I’m going to try my hardest to tackle my anxiety and get myself in at least HALF of those sessions.
2) Have a Successful Launch Party for Paperfox
For those of you who don’t know, I’m editor-in-chief of a literary themed magazine called Paperfox! We are about to publish our second issue, which is Fantasy themed and I’m more excited about this than I have been about anything else for a long time! I’m a huge lover of all things Fantasy and I’m excited to share what myself and the other editors have worked so hard to produce. We’re having a launch party to celebrate the magazine very soon, and I want it to go well so badly! I also want to boost our social media and web traffic, so that’s another goal in itself!
3) Write at least 5 Chapters of My Novel in Progress
For those of you who also don’t know this one, I started writing a novel as a personal project of mine. It’s a fantasy/sci-fi novel which I won’t reveal too much of right now, but I’m soon to be posting quite a large extract from it for anyone who is interested in reading. I’ve been having a bit of writer’s block recently which I’ve finally managed to pull myself out of – so my goal is to write 5 more chapters this Autumn!
4) To Embrace Autumn with Everything I Have and Celebrate with My Blog (REBRAND ALERT!)
My blog is getting a little redesign! Yay! *crowd cheers*. I love Autumn and I decided I wanted to embrace the season and get a nice Autumnal branding going on for my social media and my website. Get ready for a new banner, more closely organised and branded photography, and of course new content!
5) To Praise More
We often assume that people have their shit together – and therefore refrain from telling someone when we like a cool thing they did, through fear of looking creepy or “kiss-ass-y”. More recently, I’ve been taking the time to compliment people. I use my Twitter and Instagram to praise other writers/bloggers/creators that I enjoyed their work! I know how lovely it feels when someone says it to me, so it’s good to pass that feeling on to another. Let’s try and spread a bit of empowerment!
What are your goals for the Autumn?
