I’m launching a podcast!

Today I wanted to talk to you guys about my latest project (I probably don’t need another one, but I can’t seem to stop myself!). I’m starting a podcast. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve had this podcast in the making for a while. ‘Beth’s Bookshelf’ will be a weekly podcast from me and a guest, and I’ll finally be launching the first episode on the 12th of February. I wanted to have this launched at the end of January, but that ended up being pretty unrealistic!

I’m a huge fan of podcasts already (check out this post about my faves here), from interviews, to nerdy podcasts about Harry Potter, and ambitious podcasts for the wannabe #Girlboss. Whatever it is, I’m usually willing to give it a listen. I’m not someone who can work with music in the background (I always end up writing the lyrics instead of my work) so podcasts are the perfect thing for me to tune into while I’m crossing some things off my to-do list or creating something.

I’m generally a very chatty person who doesn’t mind giving my opinion on things, and I thought it would be cool to put that to some use and experiment creatively with a new media platform!

Why did I start a podcast?

The main reason I started this podcast is because I adore literature and writing as a craft, but I don’t portray enough of that side of me on my blog. I wanted to find a way to implement my love for books & writing without completely altering the route of my blog. So, what better way than to start a whole new project just for this? I love experimenting creatively, and as a student journalist, it’s important and fun for me to try out new media platforms!

So, what’s my podcast about?

My podcast is called ‘Beth’s Bookshelf’ and it’s a series of interviews with incredible writers of all variety; authors, influencers, bloggers, freelance writers, etc. Essentially, the podcast is a collection of conversations with storytellers. I’ve basically used this new project as an excuse to get in touch with people I admire and pick their brains! All while recording it, and sharing it with you.

Each week, I will have a different guest onto the podcast to chat about storytelling, writing as a craft, along with a particular topic unique to them. The first episode (launching 12/02) will be with Danika Stone, the author of All the Feels, and we’re chatting about writing processes, finding ideas, and fandoms!

A new episode will be released each Sunday (as voted for by you guys on twitter) and you’ll find it here, on the blog! I’m also going to be submitting the podcast to iTunes and Google Play, so let’s hope it gets accepted (fingers crossed!)

Please join me and Danika on the 12th of February for an episode on writing processes and FANDOM!

Here’s to a new project! What new projects are you taking on this year?
