I’ve decided to start featuring a little ‘feminism roundup’ each month on the blog, where I focus a little attention on some of the cool products, articles and artwork I’ve seen throughout the month that I think every feminist will love! This month’s consists mainly of art work and articles, but I really think you’ll love them! So, without further ado, here are this month’s products!
To be clear, this isn’t an actual magazine (but hey, Roz Chast, I’d definitely buy it if it was) but it is an awesome art print. You can also get it as a cushion, and some other cute objects and decor pieces for around the home! “I let my houseplants die” is a hilarious feature title and I wish it actually existed so I can read it.
This print is cute as fuck and I want it in my life! I only spotted this today and I’ve already scouted the perfect spot in my house for it.
I’m sure most people will agree that women are often most beautiful in the moments when no one is watching. Women when they’re alone are in their prime, away from judging eyes and not thinking about the standards they’re pressured to live up to. This Vice article shows some of Sally Nixon’s best illustrations of ‘women when no-one is watching, and I love them! The illustrations are gorgeous, of real women, and removes some of that stigma. You know, the one where the things women do are ‘weird’ and ‘to be kept to themselves’. I think you’ll find some of the illustrations familiar, too!
Okay so we’ve all seen Classical Art Memes and we can’t get enough of them. This is basically that, but specifically Western Art showing women having a shit time at parties. Some of these are a little too relatable and will remind you of the last time you were trying to enjoy a night out and some pleb kept coming onto you. But, hey, they’re funny!
This is essentially the same thing, only it’s women rejecting marriage proposals in Western Art History, something I’m yet to do but still find hilariously relatable. I’m holding out for the ‘Women punching sexist men in western art history’ but I don’t think it’ll happen. This will do instead.
I absolutely LOVE this print and I need it in my home. In fact, I want lots of prints like this hanging in JeTuNous (my feminist magazine)’s future office! Everyone needs a Girl Power quote to keep them going from time to time. I wish women didn’t need reminding to love one another, but a bit of encouragement goes a long way and this print puts it very beautifully.
Admittedly, I’m very late to the pin hype. I don’t even own any pins and yet they seem to be one of the biggest trends this year! If I do get some pins, though, this will be amongst the collection! I am very much a feminist with a long ass to-do list so it’s simply fitting!
This is one of the best article’s I’ve read this month! Men really do need to get over the way women talk. Women are allowed to be funny, boistrous, outlandish, and god damn ‘unladylike’. We’re women, not robots, and we talk in any way we please. Give this article a good read if you’re interested in reading a more in-depth version of what I’m putting across!
I hope you enjoyed this little feminist roundup of things I’ve been loving. Let me know down below if you’ve but anything to feed your inner activist this month!
